What the Open Graph Tag Generator does
The Open Graph Tag Generator writes the og: meta tags that control how a link looks when it is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, Telegram and many other apps. Enter the title, description, canonical URL and image URL, choose a type (website, article, product or profile) and copy the tags into the page's <head>.
Only the fields you fill in are output, and special characters are escaped. Without Open Graph tags, apps guess a title and pick a random image from the page, or show no preview at all. The most important tag is og:image: a clear 1200 × 630 pixel image makes a shared link far more likely to be clicked.
When to use it
- Preparing a blog post, product page or landing page for social sharing.
- Fixing a link preview that shows the wrong image or an old title.
- Adding share previews to a single-page app that renders content with JavaScript.
- Setting up link cards for a documentation site shared in Slack or Discord.

I updated the tags but the old preview still shows. Why?
Platforms cache previews. Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn Post Inspector to fetch the page again. Slack and WhatsApp refresh on their own after a while.
Do I also need Twitter Card tags?
X (Twitter) falls back to Open Graph tags, but add <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image"/> to get the large image layout.
Must the image URL be absolute?
Yes. Use the full https:// address. Relative paths are not resolved by most crawlers, and the image must be publicly reachable without a login.
Do Open Graph tags help SEO?
Not directly; search engines rank using the title, description and content. They improve click-through from social shares, which brings visitors. Set the search tags with the Meta Tag Generator.
