What this number means

This is an indicative mid-market reference rate โ€” not a guaranteed bank, card, or cash-exchange quote. Providers typically add fees and margins on top of it. We show the update time so you can judge freshness before making a decision, and crypto conversions especially should be treated as a snapshot, not a live trading price.

Where the rates come from

We separate the live data engine that actually powers each conversion from official central-bank benchmarks you can independently check it against.

LIVE DATA ENGINE

Frankfurter + Currency API

Rates for the 31 most commonly traded currencies come from Frankfurter, which republishes the European Central Bank's own daily reference rates. Everything else โ€” smaller-economy currencies and cryptocurrencies โ€” comes from a separately maintained, openly published aggregated dataset, updated daily.

European Central Bank

Publishes euro foreign-exchange reference rates on working days โ€” the actual underlying source for our major-currency rates above, and independently checkable on the ECB's own site.

Federal Reserve

Publishes selected foreign-exchange rates (the H.10 release). It's a widely trusted benchmark you can cross-check against โ€” not the direct engine for every currency shown here.

Bank of England

Official exchange-rate statistics and time series for sterling and selected currencies โ€” another independent benchmark for cross-checking rates involving GBP.
