What the .ENV (dotenv) to JSON Converter does

The ENV to JSON Converter reads a .env (dotenv) file and returns a JSON object with one property per variable. Comments starting with # and blank lines are skipped, and quotes around values are removed.

Every value is returned as a string, exactly as a process sees environment variables. That means DB_PORT=5432 becomes "5432" and DEBUG=false becomes "false", so nothing is reinterpreted on the way.
