Why convert HEIC to PNG?
HEIC (HEIF) is the format iPhones and iPads save photos in by default. It keeps high quality at about half the size of JPG, but Windows, Android and many websites can't open it without extra software.
PNG is a lossless image format: every pixel is stored exactly, and it supports full transparency. It is the standard for screenshots, logos, icons and graphics with text.
Choose PNG when you need sharp text and edges, transparency, or an exact copy of every pixel.

Good to know
- HEIC photos are decoded right in your browser: Safari opens them directly, other browsers first load a small decoder (about 1 MB). The photo is never uploaded.
- PNG keeps the picture exactly as it is, but it can't bring back detail that HEIC compression already removed, and the file is usually larger.
