What the CSV to XML Converter does
The CSV to XML Converter turns comma-separated rows into a well-formed XML document. The first row is read as the header, every following row becomes one <item> element, and each column becomes a child element named after its header.
The output starts with a standard XML declaration and a single <root> element, so it opens in any XML parser, browser or import tool without extra editing. Values are escaped where needed, so ampersands and angle brackets inside your cells cannot break the document.
When to use it
- A partner, supplier feed or legacy import system accepts only XML, but your data lives in a spreadsheet export.

Common questions about the CSV to XML Converter
Can column names contain spaces?
XML element names cannot contain spaces, so use header names such as order_id or orderId. Short, plain headers also make the XML easier to query later with XPath.
What delimiter does the CSV need?
Commas and semicolons are both detected automatically. For tab-separated data choose TSV as the source format instead; quoted fields with commas or line breaks inside them are read correctly.
Can I rename the root and item elements?
Not in the converter itself: it always writes <root> and <item>. Rename them with a quick find-and-replace, or convert to JSON first with the CSV to JSON Converter if your next step expects JSON anyway.
